The Artist-in-Residence Program (AIR) is the heart of COLLAGE’s programming. In this program, accomplished and dedicated local artists work one-on-one with patients, at the bedside in hospital rooms, at the chair-side in treatment areas and in waiting rooms. Using an intuitive approach, artists work individually with patients, without any pre-specified outcomes, to support the unique interests and needs of each patient.
Currently, the AIR program is held in the Inpatient Units of the Department of Palliative Care & Investigational Cancer Therapeutics, as well as in the waiting rooms of the outpatient Supportive Care Center, the Clinical Center for Targeted Therapy, and the Breast Medical Oncology Center at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
In 2015, COLLAGE launched and AIR program in the oncology waiting room at Columbia-Presbyterian in NYC. Recently, COLLAGE has established an AIR program at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston on the Palliative Care inpatient unit.
